Meanwhile, a tea-drinking craze originating from China is sweeping the globe. The “Lily Lamb Matcha” from Matcha Wang, a matcha brand under Drink Dream Group, unexpectedly went viral on TikTok, with foreign tourists jokingly referring to the action of drinking the milk foam topped with the Lily Lamb Matcha art as the "Kill the Sheep Plan". The store attracts 900 to 1200 customers daily, with foreign tourists queuing for nearly an hour just to try their matcha latte. Even Tom Holland, the actor who played Spider-Man, has purchased it, further fueling its popularity.
The creator of this hit drink, Drink Dream Group, started from a matcha gelato shop called "Nino Matcha" on Shiquan Street in Suzhou. The founder subdivided matcha gelato into five concentration levels, gradually developing a replicable methodology of "single product perfection": taking a niche category to its extreme, establishing standards, and then expanding into other segments.
Today, Drink Dream Group owns over a dozen brands covering tea drinks, matcha, Thai tea, soufflés, desserts, and more. Nino Matcha is regarded as a benchmark for Italian style artisanal gelato in China. TamKoKo is known for its handcrafted, traditional Thai tea made with age old techniques. BlackTree, which only operates in high end shopping malls such as MixC Shenzhen Bay and Deji Plaza in Nanjing, has been dubbed the "Black Pearl of Thai tea" within the industry. OUO Thai Tea focuses on the crossover combination of Thai tea and gelato. Fufuland and Lianxing Double Skin Milk Pudding are deeply engaged in the soufflé and traditional dessert segments, respectively. Each brand shares the group's supply chain resources, operational expertise, and channel capabilities, forming a synergistic model of "single product perfection combined with a multi brand matrix."
In July 2026, BlackTree opened its first overseas store at 313@somerset on Orchard Road in Singapore, introducing the “Asian Tea Lab” concept for the first time. Singapore was the first destination carefully selected by Drink Dream Group—with its mature tea beverage market and consumers’ high acceptance of Thai tea and matcha, it serves as an ideal testing ground for the “globalization of Asian tea culture.”
BlackTree brought popular Chinese bestsellers such as “400 Stroke Lava Thai Tea,” “Kitten Salty French Cheese Thai Tea,” and “Snow-Topped Thai Tea” to Singapore. It also launched its first collaboration with Matcha Wang, bringing the globally popular “Lily Lamb Matcha” to the Singapore. From Shiquan Street in Suzhou to Orchard Road in Singapore, this journey has spanned eight years. Now, preparations for a New York location are underway. The first step for “Drink Dream” has been taken. And the next stop is the world.
