GarageFloorCoating.com Calls for Accountability, Independent Testing, and an End to Misleading Performance Claims

Phoenix, AZ (PRUnderground) September 18th, 2026

GarageFloorCoating.com has more than three decades of experience in the concrete coatings industry, a national presence throughout the United States, and corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. The company is calling for greater accountability over the aggressive claims driving the "1-day" garage floor coating market.

Manufacturers and distributors increasingly push thin, rapid-cure polyurea and polyaspartic coatings directly over concrete, eliminating the moisture-mitigating epoxy used in a 2-day system. To justify the shortcut, they promote claims such as "20 times stronger than epoxy," superior penetration, and greater impact resistance.

GarageFloorCoating.com believes claims of this magnitude should be supported by recognized, independently verifiable ASTM testing.

The Problem With Selling Speed

The 1-day model is attractive because contractors can complete more installations with less labor. But what is faster and more profitable to install is not better for the consumer.

Although this system reduces labor costs and increases job turnover, speed comes at the expense of long-term performance. Concrete is porous, and moisture vapor transmission (MVT) is a leading cause of coating failure. Even in arid states like Arizona, softer, porous concrete combined with the frequent absence of a 10-15 mil under-slab vapor barrier is creating moisture problems comparable to wetter climates. Rapid-cure coatings compound the problem by curing too quickly to adequately penetrate the concrete, resulting in poor adhesion and acting as a superficial liner rather than an integrated, penetrating coating system.

"There is nothing wrong with polyaspartic technology. We use it extensively ourselves," said Robert G. Hanson, President and CEO of Garage Floor Coating Franchise System Inc., also known as GarageFloorCoating.com. "The problem is where it's being used. Rapid-cure polyaspartics and polyureas belong on top of the system, not directly on the concrete. A properly formulated moisture-mitigating epoxy should be the foundation, with polyaspartic used where it performs best: as a durable protective topcoat. When speed dictates system design, long-term performance becomes secondary. We refuse to make that compromise."

1-Day vs. 2-Day

A typical 1-day garage floor coating consists of:

Rapid-cure polyurea/polyaspartic primer → decorative flake broadcast → one polyaspartic clear topcoat

GarageFloorCoating.com's system takes a different approach:

100% solids moisture-mitigating epoxy primer → full Torginol decorative flake broadcast → two 100% solids polyaspartic clear topcoats

The additional material and installation time are intentional. The epoxy coating is designed to address moisture at the concrete while providing two protective wear layers above the decorative aggregate.

Consumers Need to Read the Warranty

GarageFloorCoating.com encourages consumers to look beyond installation time and carefully examine the warranty. Most do NOT include the following.

If a coating is marketed as technologically superior, consumers should understand exactly which potential failures are, and are not, covered.

Applicators Are Being Sold the Same Story

GarageFloorCoating.com believes many contractors installing 1-day systems rely on the same manufacturer claims presented to consumers.

Rapid installation, lower labor costs and higher production can make these systems extremely attractive. However, moisture-related failures, premature wear and tire staining may not become apparent until months or years after installation.

By then, an applicator may have dozens or even hundreds of floors installed.

A Call for Independent Testing

GarageFloorCoating.com is calling for greater transparency and independent comparative testing of claims involving:

  • Concrete penetration and adhesion

  • Moisture-mitigation performance

  • Impact and abrasion resistance

  • Comparative strength claims

  • Plasticizer migration and tire staining

If a product is advertised as "20 times stronger than epoxy," consumers deserve to know exactly what measurable property is being referenced and which standardized test supports that claim.

Competition and innovation benefit the coatings industry. Unsupported technical claims do not.

After three decades in the industry, GarageFloorCoating.com maintains a straightforward philosophy:

The best garage floor isn't the one installed the fastest. It's the one designed to perform the longest.

QUALITY TAKES TIME.

TOURISM IS GROWING -  THE CHOICES MADE NOW WILL SHAPE ITS FUTURE

Global tourism is entering a new era of strategic choices. The industry is still generating economic growth, but geopolitical instability, climate pressures, investment challenges and technological disruption are testing its long-term competitiveness. The numbers reveal a paradox. According to the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index 2026, 92% of the 110 economies assessed have improved their conditions for tourism development since 2024. The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) forecasts a US$12 trillion contribution to the global economy in 2026, supporting around 376 million jobs.

“I think about quitting all the time,” says Jordan Leung, known to his Instagram followers as @69ranch. As one of Hong Kong’s most prominent stand-up comedians to emerge in recent years, Leung’s pessimism is surprising. “I don’t wanna make social media content,” the 33-year-old admits. “Now I’m just fixated on likes and stuff … I don’t know how much longer I can do this.” Sitting directly across the table from him, it is not always easy to tell when Leung is being sincere or performing his...

Scotland’s wild wellness boom, from Gleneagles to Loch Lomond

For a while, the blueprint for a serious wellness trip looked pretty much the same everywhere. A flight to somewhere warm, a resort with a view of jungle or terraced rice paddies, a treatment menu borrowing names from ancient traditions, and enough linen to last a lifetime. Scotland was never really part of that picture. It was the place people went for whisky, castles and rain, not the place they went to reset. Then this summer, Scotland’s men’s football team appeared at their first World Cup...
