Five-time Iowa Music Award winner Klazik joins Atlanta’s Clay James for a Halloween celebration at DoubleTree Cedar Rapids, with tickets starting at $29.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa Oct 8, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Klazik Entertainment will present an adult Halloween celebration featuring five-time Iowa Music Award winner Klazik and Atlanta recording artist Clay James on Friday, October 16, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cedar Rapids Convention Complex. Doors open at 6 p.m., and general admission tickets start at $29.
The event will take place in the venue's Taft A/B rooms at 350 First Avenue NE in downtown Cedar Rapids. Designed with audiences ages 30 and older in mind, the evening combines live hip-hop performances with a Halloween gathering centered on music, fashion and social connection.
All costumes are welcome. The encouraged theme draws from the style of 1970s player culture, including sharp suits, glamorous outfits and bold accessories. Guests can interpret the theme or choose a different Halloween look.
The performance brings together artists from Iowa and Georgia whose music reflects distinct regional traditions. For Klazik, who also produces the event, the celebration extends his focus on Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop: music rooted in the experiences of listeners who grew up with the genre and continue to follow it into adulthood.
An Iowa artist creating music for grown audiences
Born in Cleveland and based in the Des Moines area, Klazik, whose name is Tyrone Thomas, is a recording artist and U.S. Navy veteran. His music draws on experiences with family, relationships, work and personal growth, pairing mature storytelling with traditional hip-hop influences.
His Iowa Music Awards include Best Performance, Lyricist of the Year and the inaugural Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop Artist award. In 2025, The Gazette profiled his work and his approach to making music for older hip-hop audiences.
His single "Get to You" reached No. 1 on The Urban Influencer's weekly rap chart in March 2025, a milestone also reported in a profile published by The Source.
Clay James brings a Southern perspective
Atlanta-born and Savannah-raised, Clay James blends Southern storytelling with a style-conscious approach to hip-hop. His career has included mentorship from OutKast's Big Boi and a recording deal with Snoop Dogg's DoggyStyle Records, documented in national and regional music coverage.
His Cedar Rapids appearance places that Southern perspective alongside Klazik's Iowa-based work, giving audiences a live pairing of artists connected by their emphasis on individuality, lyricism and performance.

There is something quite deliciously subversive about a freaky shoe. Feet of course already hold a hint of perversion – some people are really into them, while others find them repellent. But shod those feet in a shoe that people can find both compelling and strange? Well actually, that’s fashion catnip. Visceral proof can be found in those who have made the freaky shoe their signature, such as the aristocratic, enigmatic and entirely iconic Daphne Guinness, who always wears a pair of...
